Medical and Scientific Information

One of AIFA missions is to promote independent information and support cultural activities aiming at a correct use of medicines. This context represents the Scientific Information Unit framework providing information on therapeutic choices, promoting appropriateness of prescriptions and education for health professionals through its editorial activity (free of charge publications) and e-learning courses.

Among the tools of scientific information that AIFA offers to health professionals there are the Drug Info Bulletin (a bimonthly review dedicated to the aspects of safety and efficacy of medicines) and the pharmacovigilance magazine Reazioni (focused on reports on adverse reactions), along with numerous other publications that testify an intense editorial activity.

The aim is to distinguish AIFA as the main authoritative source of news regarding pharmaceutical aspects and regulatory activities, in order to promote a new drug culture, based on ethics and transparency.

Intended for health professionals is also a full list of Notes produced by AIFA (Note AIFA) for the definition of reimbursement criteria for certain medicines and for their expenditure governance.

Finally, AIFA provides a service for independent information on drugs, through the Independent Medicines Information Centre called FarmaciLine, through a toll-free number dedicated to the public and health professionals for questions about efficacy, safety and availability of medicines.
